Suerte Tequila Takes Home Gold at San Francisco World Spirits Competition
BOULDER, Colo. (May 15, 2017) — Suerte, the small-batch, single-distillery tequila maker, is pleased to announce it received a gold medal at the 2017 San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) for its Extra Añejo tequila.
“We couldn’t be prouder to be recognized by one of the most important awards in the spirits industry,” said Laurence Spiewak, Suerte co-founder and CEO. “Our Extra Añejo embodies the rich flavors consumers have come to expect from our quality, artisanal tequilas.”
Suerte’s Extra Añejo is crafted from 100% Tahona-crushed blue weber agave that is double-distilled and aged in charred American White Oak whiskey barrels for seven years. The aging process imparts a golden hue and highly complex, full-bodied flavor with hints of ripe cherry, vanilla, apricot and cinnamon. It is available in 750ml, 40 percent alcohol by volume (80 proof) for $109.99.
The SFWSC is regarded as one of the most influential spirits competitions in the world. The gold medal is awarded to exceptional spirits that are near the pinnacle of achievement and set the stand in their category. The judging panel of 43 industry experts recognizes quality spirits with awards that have become one of the most reliable and universal indications of spirits excellence. The 2017 competition was the biggest in its history, featuring more than 2,100 entries.
Suerte also received three silver medals for its Blanco, Reposado and Añejo tequilas.
