Raleigh Debuts First Electric Adventure Bike

Brand now offers a full spectrum of all-terrain bikes including electric, men’s, and women’s specific

KENT, Wash. (April 19, 2018) – Raleigh, the storied 131-year-old bicycle brand, is pleased to add the Tamland iE electric bike to the line of adventure models available for 2018. The first all-terrain electric bike available from Raleigh, the Tamland iE joins the popular Willard and updated women’s-specific Amelia models to offer a ride for every kind of off-road adventure.

“Adventure riding allows cyclists to get off the pavement, away from cars and crowds—it’s obvious why it’s one of the fastest growing segments in cycling, and we want to make it accessible for every kind of rider,” said Larry Pizzi, President at Raleigh Electric. “The Tamland iE electric bike allows riders of all abilities to experience the joys of an adventure ride and is one of the few electric adventure bikes on the market. We’ve also streamlined the purchasing experience and are able to have new bikes shipped and assembled at a local independent bike dealer near you, or, in some cities, delivered fully assembled to your door by the mobile bike service Beeline Bikes.”

Tamland models have been in Raleigh’s lineup for four years, and now this versatile family grows with the addition of an electric sibling. The Tamland iE features an aluminum alloy frame, disc brakes and a German-made 250-watt Brose motor that tops out at 28 mph. The integrated down tube battery stores 497 watt-hours and provides three modes of power, with an estimated range of 35 miles or longer. The 27.5-inch wheels and 47c tires give the bike suitable traction for everything from light trails to backcountry dirt roads. Retailing at $4,749.99, the Tamland iE allows riders to go farther and longer so they can infuse every ride with the spirit of adventure.

Also available in the adventure line, the Amelia and Willard are designed to serve the more budget-conscious rider seeking a bike that functions as a both a commuter and road bike, with capabilities for far-flung, off-road weekend adventures or cyclocross racing.

Available in three different builds with a starting price point of $799.99, the Amelia offers female riders an affordable all-road adventure bike. Design highlights include smaller frame sizes, narrower handlebars, a shorter stem and a women’s-specific saddle. Inspiring confidence in deep, loose gravel or dirt with 35c tires, the Amelia provides the flexibility to go from the road to the trail. The top-level Amelia 3 features an alloy gravel frame, a fork with carbon legs and alloy tapered steerer, mechanical disc brakes, and SRAM Apex 1 x 11 drivetrain. It retails for $1049.99.

Introduced in 2016, the Willard platform now has four different builds to suit commuters and adventurers alike, with price points starting at $799.99. The updated Willard 4 features an alloy gravel frame, a fork with carbon legs and alloy tapered steerer, Shimano 105 11-speed drivetrain, a tubeless HED wheelset, and wide 700 x 40c tires. The Willard 4 retails for $1299.99. Like all Willard and Amelia models, it arrives 95 percent assembled through Raleigh’s Ready Ride program.
