Klean Kanteen Hosts Gore Creek Cleanup at Go Pro Mountain Games

CHICO, Calif. (June 7, 2017) – Klean Kanteen, the leader in stainless steel reusable drinkware and official partner and sustainability sponsor of the 2017 Go Pro Mountain Games, will be hosting The Love Vail Cleanup along Gore Creek on the final day of the festival, June 11. The cleanup is hosted in conjunction with American Rivers, the Vail Valley Foundation and Eagle River Watershed Council.

“We often take clean water for granted, and it’s important to remember clean drinking water starts with healthy streams, rivers and groundwater,” said Melissa McClary, Field Marketing Manager at Klean Kanteen. “Through education, solutions and national advocacy, American Rivers works to restore watersheds, conserve clean water and protect our wild rivers. Events are our mission in motion. As a 1% for the Planet member and benefit corporation, we are not only committed to protecting the places where we play, but also bring benefit to the places we show up.”

In their fourth year of partnership, Klean and Vail Valley Foundation, which hosts the GoPro Mountain Games each year, share a common goal to reduce single use waste and continue to make the GoPro Games a leading sustainable event.

“There has been a natural synergy between the Vail Valley Foundation and Klean Kanteen since day one of our long standing partnership at the GoPro Mountain Games,” said Dave Dressman, Vice President of the Vail Valley Foundation. “We share the same sustainability values and goal of reducing single-use disposable containers. We’re also working to educate our guests about making environmentally responsible decisions at our events and in everyday life. With Klean heading up our sustainability efforts during the Games we’re confident we are setting the bar high as an environmentally friendly event.”

During the river cleanup, volunteers will remove trash along the recreation path in Vail to prevent it from infiltrating Gore Creek. The cleanup takes place from 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m., June 11, and all volunteers will receive a 20oz Vacuum Insulated Klean Kanteen with custom artwork. A free lunch for volunteers will also be provided.  "As a valued and long-standing partner of American Rivers, Klean Kanteen understands clean water starts at ground level,” said Anne Paterson Director, Corporate Relations at American Rivers. “Combining education with action makes the greatest impact at a community level, so we’ll offer resources to learn more about the essential impacts of our rivers at our booth and then have a chance to get our hands dirty during the clean-up. Healthy rivers are a vital part of our lives, offering recreation, tourism and agriculture opportunities, not to mention the water we drink every day. With Klean Kanteen’s support we’ll continue working to make our message heard, both in Vail and around the world.”

In addition to the family-friendly river cleanup, visitors at the Go Pro Mountain Games will be able to snag one of three-thousand co-branded stainless steel pints provided by Klean Kanteen and fill them at five free water stations located throughout the event. Klean will also provide education around watershed protection at its event booth, in conjunction with American Rivers.
