POC Unveils Anniversary Collection at Tour de France
PARK CITY, Utah (July 1, 2016) — POC, a leading manufacturer of skiing and cycling helmets, eyewear, body armor and apparel, introduces an anniversary collection of its Octal helmet and Do Half Blades sunglasses for the start of tomorrow's first stage of the 2016 Tour de France. The limited edition helmet and sunglasses celebrate POC's first ten years, and will be worn by the Cannondale-Drapac Pro Cycling team for all 21 stages of the 2016 grand tour.
"The Tour de France is the pinnacle of road racing and is the perfect environment to celebrate ten years," said Stefan Ytterborn, POC's CEO and founder. "Cannondale-Drapac has been an important partner of POC's for several years. Its unique high performance environment allows POC to continually improve, innovate and redefine our products."
Slipstream Sports, owner of the Cannondale-Drapac team, and POC have been working closely for a number of years. POC has been the provider of helmets and eyewear for the U.S.-based team since 2014.
"We've partnered with POC since the 2014 season, and several years later I'm still really impressed by their continual innovation," said Jonathan Vaughters, CEO of Slipstream sports and the Cannondale-Drapac Pro Cycling team. "The helmets offer the rider incredible protection and very good coverage, and the design aesthetic of the helmets and glasses is immediately recognizable in the bunch. I'm proud to consider POC a partner to the team as they celebrate their tenth anniversary and I look forward to our continued relationship."
Over ten years POC has remained dedicated to its mission of doing the best it can to saves live and reduce the consequences of accidents for cyclists and gravity sports athletes. To support this vision, POC created two expert labs that have been pivotal in the development and creation of its award-winning products. POC Lab is a scientific and medical forum which brings together leading experts in head and spinal injury and trauma to advise and support POC's work to create the most reliable and advanced protection on the market. WATTS Lab focuses on maximizing performance and aerodynamics and includes experts from Cannondale-Drapac, Volvo and SEMCON.
"Having fun and always looking to improve on our mission has meant that the last ten years has flown by," said Ytterborn. "But from day one, our vision, to offer the best in terms of personal protection was crystal clear and at the heart of everything we do."
