Big Agnes Receives Popular Science Award for Fly Creek HV1 Carbon and with Dyneema® Fabric Tent
The one-pound tent is recognized in Best of What’s New - Recreation Gear Category for 2018
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (December 6, 2018) – Big Agnes, the award-winning producer of tents, sleeping bags, and sleeping pads, announced today that it has received the Popular Science 2018 Best of What’s New Award for the new Fly Creek HV1 Carbon with Dyneema® fabric Tent.
The Fly Creek HV Carbon is being recognized for its ultralight design, using a carbon fiber pole architecture paired with Dyneema® fabric to create the ultimate lightweight structure. The welded construction of the Dyneema® Composite fabric prevents the need for stitching or seam tape and creates a durable build. Weighing only one pound, this one-person tent is the lightest to date. The collection will also include a two-person Fly Creek HV2 Carbon, Tiger Wall HV2 and HV3 Carbon, Onyx Tarp Carbon, and the Scout 2 Carbon.
“We are thrilled to be recognized by Popular Science and to receive a Best of What’s New Award,” said Garett Mariano, marketing director at Big Agnes. “The Big Agnes brand is built on form and function. We work with the most cutting-edge materials suppliers and factories to produce the lightest weight functional products and the Fly Creek Carbon with Dyneema® fabric exemplifies that.”
Popular Science’s Best of What’s New is a definitive list of the 100 most innovative technologies and products from the past year. Editors review thousands of products in search of breakthrough products that represent a significant advancement in their categories. Only nine products are chosen for the Recreation Gear category, with a focus on making active lives more fun and comfortable.
“Our fundamental belief in extreme lightweight and strong constructions is completely aligned with the high performance that Big Agnes was looking to achieve with this tent,” said Chuck Rutkowski, business development manager of DSM Dyneema. “Together we are pushing the envelope of design and vision in outdoor equipment.”
