BOULDER, Colo. (May 28, 2019) – Matador Packable Adventure Gear, the award-winning producer of portable travel gear, today introduced a limited-edition version of its fan-favorite Pocket Blanket, customized with ocean artwork from Hawaiian artist Sarah Caudle. For every Ocean Pocket Blanket sold, Matador is committed its goal of removing one pound of trash from waterways, with cleanup efforts in its home state of Colorado and Caudle’s home of Hawaii.

“We’re releasing this beach scene Pocket Blanket just in time for summer,” said Chris Clearman, Founder and CEO of Matador. “It’s a convenient place for you and your friends to sit, whether at the beach, in a park, or at a festival – and now it’s more beautiful than ever. We’re thrilled to partner with Sarah Caudle for the artwork and excited to give back to several of our favorite organizations to help clean up oceans and beaches across the world.”

Matador will partner with various organizations for the trash removal, through local efforts and through donations to several organizations:

  • Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii – Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii is a grassroots, non-profit organization that works with local communities to care for Hawaiian coastlines through large-scale beach cleanups, education and outreach initiatives. Funds donated to Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii will be used for cleanup logistics, as well as community education about plastic pollution.

  • Surfrider Foundation Oahu – The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans, waves and beaches through conservation, activism, research and education. Funds donated to Surfrider Oahu will be used for its Ocean Friendly Restaurants initiative, benefiting restaurants that are working toward zero waste by committing to plastic and Styrofoam bans.

  • Local Cleanup Efforts – Matador will be hosting local cleanups across the state of Colorado. The company will be organizing several events annually and will work with other local brands and organizations to help remove trash from rivers and lakes across the state.

Matador’s Pocket Blanket is a dry, clean place to sit – anywhere, anytime. The water-repellent, puncture-resistant blanket fits two to four adults and conveniently packs down to the size of a wallet. The blanket’s weighted corners with built-in stakes and sand pockets ensure the blanket will not blow away on windy days. Small enough to fit in a pocket in its integrated storage pouch, the Pocket Blanket is ideal for relaxing on the beach, picnicking in the park, or hanging out at a festival. The Ocean Pocket Blanket is dye-sublimated with Caudle’s artwork, titled “Strength of the Sea”.

The limited-edition Ocean Pocket Blanket (MSRP: $34.99) is available now at select retailers and online at www.MatadorUp.com
