Challenge the Cold in La Sportiva’s Fall 2018 Collection
For Fall 2018, La Sportiva introduces a new Mountain boot, two new Mountain Running shoes, and a collection of apparel that allows winter enthusiasts to pursue their preferred outdoor adventures, even when confronted with winter’s frosty bite. Runners and mountaineers, specifically, will be able to run farther and climb higher in the new footwear built for performance in cold winter conditions.
“Freezing temperatures rarely hinder athletes of many sports from training and competing,” said Jonathan Lantz, president of La Sportiva North America. “We made a point to focus our 2018 Fall Collection on these athletes, specifically runners and climbers, helping to promote and encourage their active ambitions while also providing the performance and protection needed during the winter season.”
The Trango Tower Extreme GTX is the newest addition to the Trango mountaineering boot family and provides more durability, warmth, and protection for technical ice or high alpine adventures. Water repellent uppers with Honeycomb Guard inserts provide abrasion protection in high-wear zones while the boot’s collar top gaiter provides additional comfort and warmth. Steep slopes can be climbed with ease as the 3D ankle flex allows for increased mobility both laterally and longitudinally. The Vibram One sole and TPU midsole allows support all crampons. The Trango Tower Extreme GTX will retail for $499.
The Lycan GTX is a Gore-Tex version of the popular Lycan running shoe. With an aggressive outsole for added traction and grip, the Lycan GTX is a technical lightweight waterproof shoe designed for all weather and all terrain. The mid-distance training shoe comes in at 12.5 ounces, features a 6mm drop and also has durable airmesh uppers that will ward off the elements outside. By including Sportiva’s Impact Brake System, the Lycan GTX makes for a strong performer in the winter shoe category and will retail for $140.
On the apparel side, next-to skin and insulation layers can be combined with protective shells for an ideal layering system for active pursuits in the winter. The Artic L/S is a lightweight baselayer made with BeCool Yarn technology, a body mapped venting system and Polygiene anti-microbial treatment. It will retail for $99. The Radial Pant is a slim-fitting training pant for men with a comfort waistband and reflective details for night-time visisbility that will retail for $85.
For women, the Eagle Hoody is a full-zip hooded mid-layer fleece jacket that can be used as a layering piece or on its own for sufficient warmth. The 4-way stretch Pontetorto Technostretch fabric is exceptionally comfortable and it will retail for $129. The Supersonic Pant is a lightweight running pant with a fleece brushed interior for warmth while winter running and skimo training. It will retail for $85.
