La Sportiva and Adventure Fit Introduce the Trail Run Relay
The Trail Run Relay challenges teams to run an adventurous 5km trail loop as many times as possible in four hours, then finish the day with a huge beer festival and concert.
Boulder, CO – April 4, 2017 – La Sportiva NA and Adventure Fit today announce a partnership to introduce new concept in trail running, the Trail Run Relay. Debuting in Lyons, CO on June 3rd 2017, the Trail Run Relay is a social and challenging race where 2 or 4-person teams take turns running a single 5km loop. To make things interesting, teams can also enter the ‘Beer Relay’ category, where runners must drink an Oskar Blues beer before completing their lap. The team that runs the most laps in 4 hours, with the shortest time, wins the race.
According to Jonathan Degenhardt, marketing director at La Sportiva NA, “the Trail Run Relay will be a departure from the events we have historically supported. Previously, we have sponsored races that were all about speed or distance or terrain. This event lets us bring La Sportiva into a relaxed and fun festival atmosphere, and we are excited for Burning Can.”
When the trail running pros at La Sportiva wanted to create an event they could wrap their name around, they turned to Boulder’s Adventure Fit Inc., who specializes in developing innovative and non-traditional active entertainment events. Their event needed to be fun-focused, filled with adventure, and something new and different for a rapidly expanding fan base. The result is the La Sportiva Trail Run Relay.
In between running laps, runners can relax in the La Sportiva hangout zone, complete with hammocks, cold drinks, and snacks. The latest trail running shoes will also be available to demo and contests will run continuously through the day at the La Sportiva booth.
The event offers options for those that want to extend their adventure after the race. Immediately following the Trail Run Relay is the Burning Can Fest at the Lyons Outdoor Games, which features a 60+ brewery beer festival, adventure sport competitions including BMX dirt jumping, kayaking, and dog jumping. The festival continues into the evening with 3 live bands headlined by Brooklyn NY’s indie-pop sensation, Rubblebucket. To cap the night, tent and RV camping is available at the base of the Rocky Mountains. The concert is included in the entry fee, but the beer fest and camping are optional add-ons.
