SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (November 19, 2018) - Inboard Technology, the creator of the best-selling M1 Electric Skateboard, today began taking pre-orders for its latest product, the Glider Electric Scooter, at an early access price of $999. Touted as the world’s most advanced e-scooter, the Glider’s September announcement made waves in the press, with TechRadar stating “it could be the biggest scooter release ever seen”.
The Glider, the only scooter with a swappable battery, is being touted both for its hardware innovation and its software integration, offering enhanced safety, functionality and connectivity. Engineered from scratch, the Glider has been designed to account for all of the finer details, including precise rider geometry, premium components and carefully considered materials. An integrated app offers an experience beyond the hardware, helping users optimize every ride and rediscover their cities, while allowing Inboard to use anonymously gathered data to improve traffic flows, reduce collisions and provide live diagnostics and maintenance alerts.

By designing its e-vehicles from scratch, Inboard has been able to implement a near-obsessive focus on rider safety. The only scooter with a rider height below the axle centerline and featuring headlights, brakelights, turn signals, oversized tires and a broader deck, the Glider offers maximum rider safety, stability and comfort. The Glider’s three-axis accelerometer detects vibrations in the board and can potentially detect road surface features and inform other riders of such obstacles within the app, opening the door to smarter routes and safer, better-informed riders.
The app additionally allows for information and diagnostic pass-back from the scooter. Data is anonymously and instantaneously sent from the Glider to the cloud, allowing Inboard to identify problems in the field and make improvements in-house. Along with these improved safety properties, the app provides users with the ability to re-immerse in their environments – educating on optimal routes, offering recommendations on local attractions and helping riders uncover once-hidden opportunities.
