Cairn Launches Syndicated Review Network

BEND, Ore. (May 31, 2018) — Cairn, the leading outdoor gear subscription box company, today introduced its new syndicated review network, a program that will allow customers to engage brands with reviews that will directly impact sales for partner brands. In partnership with consumer data platform Bazaarvoice, Cairn is now syndicating over 12,000 product reviews from Cairn subscribers on products included in past and present Cairn boxes to online retailers including REI, Cabelas, Moosejaw, Lowe’s, Walmart, OfficeDepot, Macy’s, Bass Pro Shops, and more.

“There is substantial data showing that online product reviews drive general brand awareness as well as sales,” said Cairn co-founder and CTO/COO, Jared Peterson. “We have archived all the consumer reviews we’ve collected over the past four years and are now making them available to key retailers, which will provide valuable information to consumers making purchasing decisions, and ultimately help to sell more products for brand partners.”

Cairn has already proven to be an effective tool for product launch strategies. Earlier this year, Cairn partnered with Thermacell to deliver valuable rating and review data for the new Radius, a compact, rechargeable mosquito repellent unit which was available exclusively to Cairn subscribers in the March monthly collection. When developing the Radius, Thermacell took feedback that Cairn subscribers provided about the Backpacker, a repellent included in a past Obsidian collection, stating concerns that the product didn’t perform well over 8,000 ft and that it needed fuel to run. The new Radius addressed these concerns, and within weeks of the launch Cairn subscribers provided over 2,000 reviews, 700 of which included comments and now syndicate to online retailers REI, Walmart, Bass Pro Shops, and Cabelas.

“Cairn was critical in helping us reach influential customers quickly and efficiently during the launch of the Backpacker and the Radius,” said Kyle Adelman, marketing manager at Thermacell. “Consumer behavior is changing, and we’re seeing a growing desire to engage with brands directly online. Cairn’s early ratings and reviews, as well as product feedback, were extremely valuable during the go-to-market stage.”
