PORTLAND, Ore. (August, 15th, 2018) — Brew Dr. Kombucha, the country’s leading 100 percent raw kombucha brand, today announced its partnership with the Portland Timbers and Portland Thorns FC for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. The partnership signifies the first sponsorship between a kombucha brand and a Major League Soccer team.
“Our kombucha aids in leading a healthy, active lifestyle, and we couldn’t think of a more fitting partner than our very own hometown athletes to help us launch our limited-edition Mint Lemonade,” said Matt Thomas, Founder and CEO of Brew Dr. Kombucha. “Both the men’s team, the Timbers, and women’s team, the Thorns, have a huge presence in Portland, and we’re excited to support them.”
The Mint Lemonade bottle, debuting as part of the partnership, will feature a limited-edition label with the Timbers logo and special log slab cap.
The partnership also marks the first time kombucha will be available at Providence Park, the home stadium for the Timbers and Thorns. A custom-built reclaimed wood cart will serve four kombucha flavors on tap during games. Brew Dr. Kombucha is a refreshing and healthy beverage suitable for fans of all ages.
Game attendees over the age of 21 will also be able to enjoy signature kombucha cocktails made with spirits from Townshend’s Distillery, Brew Dr. Kombucha’s sister company. Townshend’s Distillery is the first distillery in the world to make spirits derived from whole-leaf tea kombucha.
Brew Dr. Kombucha has been making 100 percent raw, probiotic kombucha since 2008, using the same whole leaf teas and botanicals they serve at their Townshend’s teahouses. Every bottle of Brew Dr. is packed with naturally occurring live and active cultures, and produced entirely in-house, from leaf to bottle.

About Brew Dr. Kombucha
Townshend’s Tea Company was started by Matt Thomas in 2006 with the idea of serving great teas in a casual teahouse setting. Over the years, the effort of presenting the wide world of tea to their guests has expanded the Townshend’s collection to over 120 tea offerings, including classic teas, rare varieties, chai latte recipes made from scratch, Taiwanese bubble tea, and an herbal apothecary line. The company now operates nine teahouses in Oregon, Montana and Utah.
In 2008, the company began making kombucha in the kitchens of their then two teahouses, giving it the name Brew Dr. Kombucha. It was only natural for them to choose some of the same great tea blends they had developed for service at their popular teahouses and ferment those into kombucha. It turns out that approach is unique, as most commercially available kombucha is flavored with juice at the time of bottling. Brew Dr. Kombucha’s flavor profiles come from attention to the quality and formulation of the organic tea and botanicals used, creating a difference you can taste.
